Getting the most out of the space
- Apple combines the name, subtitle and keywords field when it matches searches, so repeating a word across them wastes characters. In the keywords field, separate terms with commas and skip the spaces.
- Google reads the full description, so the words people search for should appear there naturally — in sentences, not as a block of keywords. Play's metadata policy rejects keyword lists, repeated terms, and claims like “#1” or “best” in the title.
- Write the title for people first. It is the only text most browsers read. Lead with the app's name and one clear statement of what it does.
- Use promotional text for anything time-sensitive on the App Store — a sale, an event, a new feature — because it can change without submitting a new version.
